WAR ON FOOD! Trump Administration Traitors Lobbying for Bayer to Poison our Food with Glyphosate

The Trump Administration’s efforts to protect the German company Bayer, which sells the popular herbicide Roundup with toxic, cancer-causing glyphosate, is causing the MAHA (Make America Healthy Again) movement to crumble.

Not only did Trump issue an executive order to INCREASE the production of glyphosate, the current U.S. Farm bill is also seeking to give legal immunity to Bayer for harm caused by glyphosate.

Many of the members of the MAHA movement are traditionally Democrat mothers, who crossed over and voted for Trump in the last elections based solely on his promise to eliminate this kind of chemical-intensive farming.

The head of the MAHA movement, HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., is also a former liberal Democrat, who was actually one of the attorneys that won a multi-million dollar settlement against Bayer/Monsanto by a California man.

The MAHA Moms have turned on President Trump.

When Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. threw his support behind Mr. Trump’s 2024 campaign for the White House, his corps of health conscious, mostly female, followers embraced the president, who pledged to address Americans’ concerns about “toxins in our environments and pesticides in our food.”

Some of the women, who call themselves the MAHA Moms after Mr. Kennedy’s Make America Healthy Again movement, abandoned the Democratic Party to vote for Mr. Trump.

But the executive order Mr. Trump issued Wednesday to increase domestic production of glyphosate — a widely used weedkiller and possible carcinogen that has been the target of thousands of lawsuits, including one brought by Mr. Kennedy — stunned and infuriated the activists.

It now threatens to turn the brief MAHA-Trump marriage into a divorce.

“Women feel like they were lied to, that MAHA movement is a sham,”

said Alex Clark, a health and wellness podcaster for the conservative group Turning Point U.S.A., which is closely allied with the president.

“How am I supposed to rally these women to vote red in the midterms? How can we win their trust back? I am unsure if we can.”

One of the leaders of the MAHA movement is Zen Honeycutt, the founder of Moms Across America. She was recently interviewed by Jimmy Dore, where she reported on how most of the glyphosate is currently manufactured in China, and that 80% of American genetically-modified crops that are sprayed with glyphosate are actually exported to Asia as animal feed.

This is a good interview that sums up the situation very well.

The only thing I would disagree with Zen about, is her statement that

“20% of organic can have contamination of glyphosate because of fraudulent labeling. “

I am not sure where she is getting the 20% figure from, but finding glyphosate in organic products is primarily NOT due to “fraudulent” labeling.

While the USDA NOP (National Organics Program) does prohibit organic farmers from spraying their crops with Roundup and other herbicides that contain glyphosate, it does allow for the presence of glyphosate due to “drift and contamination“.

Does Organic Mean No Glyphosate?

These standards emphasize soil health, biodiversity, and the prohibition of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. Accredited certifying agencies regularly inspect organic farms and processors to ensure compliance.

The Problem of Glyphosate Drift and Contamination

Despite the best efforts of organic farmers, glyphosate drift from neighboring conventional farms is a major concern. Glyphosate can travel through the air, water, and soil, contaminating organic fields and crops. Additionally, contaminated irrigation water or soil that previously held residual glyphosate can also contribute to the problem.

What Does the NOP Say About Glyphosate in Organic Production?

The NOP explicitly prohibits the use of glyphosate in organic farming. Farmers found to be using glyphosate will lose their organic certification. However, the NOP acknowledges that trace amounts of contamination are sometimes unavoidable, particularly due to environmental drift.

Lawmakers in D.C. have stepped forward in the past few days to try to combat Trump’s executive order on mandating the U.S. production and use of glyphosate.

Congresswoman Chellie Pingree from Maine is targeting the Farm Bill and their attempt to grant Bayer immunity from damages caused by glyphosate.

The ‘Pingree Protect Our Health Amendment’ would strip language from the Republican Farm Bill that shields chemical companies from liability lawsuits, preempts state and local regulation over usage, and removes protections that limit pesticide pollution

Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-Maine), a longtime organic farmer and senior member of the House Agriculture Committee, announced today that she will be introducing an amendment to the Republican Farm Bill that fights back against chemical companies and protects the health of Americans. Republicans’ Farm Bill includes provisions that would shield chemical manufacturers like Bayer from lawsuits and would preempt state and local warning label laws or usage regulations.

The Pingree Protect Our Health Amendment would remove this harmful language from the Farm Bill.

In January, Pingree successfully got a similar provision taken out of the FY2026 Interior and Environment Appropriations bill.

“Once again, the Trump Administration and Republicans in Congress are siding with chemical companies and choosing corporate profits over Americans’ health—while paying lip service to the ‘Make America Healthy Again’ movement.

This Farm Bill is a gift to Big Chemical, plain and simple. It delivers exactly what giants like Bayer have spent years lobbying for: blanket immunity from lawsuits and the power to gut the state warning label laws that protect families, farmers, and children,” Pingree said.

“This provision would handcuff states and local communities when federal regulators drag their feet or bow to industry pressure, and it would slam the courthouse doors on people who’ve been poisoned and harmed.

I have fought this industry-written language before, and I won. I am ready to fight it again. Public health, local control, and accountability are not bargaining chips, and they should never be sacrificed to shield polluters from responsibility.”

Republican Congressman Thomas Massie also delivered a speech on the floor of the House yesterday, where he first reminded members of Congress that no investigations or prosecutions of those mentioned in the Epstein files have begun yet, even naming names, before addressing the massive amount of lobbying that Bayer does in D.C., including White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, and U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi.

Tracing Bayer’s ties to power in Trump’s Washington

From lobby firms to top officials, a look at how Bayer built access and secured favors

The White House invokes the Defense Production Act to guarantee supplies of elemental phosphorus and glyphosate-based herbicides. Regulators reapprove dicamba, a Bayer herbicide twice blocked by federal courts, and clear the way for new pesticides containing toxic, persistent PFAS “forever” chemicals.

And the U.S. Justice Department urges the U.S. Supreme Court to erase billions of dollars of Bayer’s liability for its glyphosate-based Roundup weed killer – placing the weight of the executive branch on the side of a foreign company against thousands of Americans who say Bayer’s products caused their cancers.

Over the past year, the administration under President Donald J. Trump has delivered a string of victories to Bayer, the German agrichemical and pharmaceutical giant that merged with Monsanto in 2018 to become the world’s leading manufacturer of genetically modified seeds and pesticides.

Pesticide industry influence in Washington is not new. The Biden administration also delivered wins to Bayer, including defending pesticide deregulatory measures. But Bayer’s big wins with the Trump administration come as the company seeks sweeping legal protections from cancer lawsuits – at a time when a growing body of scientific research links glyphosate to cancer and other chronic diseases, and cancer rates are rising among young people across the U.S. Corn Belt.

These favors to Bayer clash with Trump’s promise to “Make America Healthy Again,” which many supporters understood as a pledge to confront industries linked to chronic disease. They show how a foreign corporation can procure influence at the highest levels of the U.S. government and shape policies that impact health.

Our review of Bayer’s access in Washington found 16 key administration officials with ties to Bayer’s lobbying or legal network. Bayer and its lobbyists have access to people in power at the White House, U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Environmental Protection Agency and even those in high level positions closest to Trump.

Bayer also has a formidable lobbying force in Washington, with 45 people registered to lobby for Bayer under the Lobbying Disclosure Act, and at least 13 outside lobby firms – seven of which are now among the highest-paid firms in D.C. More than 30 senior officials at lobby firms retained by Bayer have direct ties to Trump, having worked in one or both of his administrations or political campaigns.

Taken together, these relationships describe a network of aligned actors positioned across the American institutions that write the rules for pesticides, enforce those rules, and defend them in court. The implications extend beyond one company or product line: Decisions shaped by Bayer’s access to the Trump administration are affecting pesticide regulation, how chemicals are assessed, our nation’s farm policy, and the ability of Americans to seek justice in court.

Bayer’s reach into to Trump’s inner circle

The most potent Bayer connections to the Trump administration involve a group of Florida lobbyists and former lobbyists who hold power in Trump’s Washington: Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, and Brian Ballard, who employed both Bondi and Wiles as lobbyists for years before they joined the Trump administration.

Wiles, one of Trump’s most powerful advisors in Washington, worked for Ballard Partners as a lobbyist and then partner for a decade until 2022. From 2016 to 2022, she also worked as a senior advisor to Trump’s presidential campaigns.

Ballard raised more than $50 million for Trump’s 2024 campaign, and served on the 2024 inaugural and transition finance committees; he is widely seen as one of the most influential people in D.C. in who does not hold an official government title.

Ballard’s firm Ballard Partners became the highest-earning lobbying firm in D.C. in 2025, setting a record for the most lucrative year for any lobbying firm in U.S. history. The firm registered to lobby for Bayer in December 2024. The firm also now lobbies for the American Chemistry Council, a trade group that includes Bayer among its corporate members.

Both Ballard and his partner, Daniel McFaul, who served on Trump’s 2016-2017 presidential transition team, are registered to lobby for both Bayer and the American Chemistry Council. The two organizations have paid Ballard Partners a combined half million dollars since Trump was elected the second time, according to federal lobby disclosures.

As far as I know, my online store, Healthy Traditions, is still the only store that tests EVERY food we sell for the presence of glyphosate before selling it, and we have been doing it since 2014.

We might be the only source in the U.S. right now, for example, selling honey that is not contaminated with glyphosate.

Organic certification is not enough. Even USDA certified organic products have to be tested for the presence of glyphosate, but few companies do.
