When Paul wrote his first letter to the believers in the city of Corinth which is recorded in the New Testament portion of the Bible, there was a common heretical teaching within Judaism that claimed there was no resurrection of the dead.
This teaching originated from the party of the Sadducees, who would have been considered the “liberal” wing of Judaism then, while the Pharisees would have been considered the “conservative” wing.
We see the Sadducees’ belief that there was no resurrection of life in a few places in the New Testament, such as this encounter with Jesus Christ:
That same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to him with a question.
“Teacher,” they said, “Moses told us that if a man dies without having children, his brother must marry the widow and have children for him.
Now there were seven brothers among us. The first one married and died, and since he had no children, he left his wife to his brother. The same thing happened to the second and third brother, right on down to the seventh. Finally, the woman died.
Now then, at the resurrection, whose wife will she be of the seven, since all of them were married to her?”
Jesus replied, “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.
At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.
But about the resurrection of the dead—have you not read what God said to you, “I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.”
When the crowds heard this, they were astonished at his teaching. (Matthew 22:23-33)
Paul himself was a Pharisee, and had quite a reputation as a scholar of Judaism within the party of the Pharisees of his day. He used this division between the Sadducees and Pharisees regarding the doctrine of resurrection of life on one occasion to his benefit:
Then Paul, knowing that some of them were Sadducees and the others Pharisees, called out in the Sanhedrin, “My brothers, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee. I stand on trial because of my hope in the resurrection of the dead.”
When he said this, a dispute broke out between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the assembly was divided. (The Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, and that there are neither angels nor spirits, but the Pharisees acknowledge them all.)
There was a great uproar, and some of the teachers of the law who were Pharisees stood up and argued vigorously.
“We find nothing wrong with this man,” they said.
“What if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?”
The dispute became so violent that the commander was afraid Paul would be torn to pieces by them. He ordered the troops to go down and take him away from them by force and bring him into the barracks.
The following night the Lord stood near Paul and said, “Take courage! As you have testified about me in Jerusalem, so you must also testify in Rome.” (Acts 23:6-11)
As the New Testament Jews began to embrace the Gospel and the teachings of Jesus, it appears that some of these divisions between those who came out of the Sadducee system and those who came out of the Pharisee system, still existed.
Divisions within the body of believers congregating in the city of Corinth is what prompted Paul to write this first letter to them.
So in chapter 15 of the letter 1 Corinthians, Paul writes what is probably the best deep dive into the issues of physical and spiritual bodies, starting with the order of Creation.
The Biblical truths that Paul explains in this chapter, are amazingly applicable to the situation we find ourselves in today within Western culture, and the rise of the false propaganda concerning transhumanism and robots replacing humans.
When one understands the Biblical truths found in this chapter, it is easy to see through the lies of the Technocrats and their false prophecies of the future that are causing so many to fear them, and fear the future.
The Resurrection of Human Bodies
Paul develops a masterful argument using logic based on the Old Testament Scriptures to completely refute the idea that there is no resurrection of the body in the first 34 verses of this chapter, which is well worth reading.
Starting in verse 35, he begins his teaching on the resurrection of the human body, and the natural order of the physical world created by God. (Emphasis mine.)
But someone may ask, “How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?”
How foolish! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies.
When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or of something else.
But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body.
All flesh is not the same: Men have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds another and fish another.
There are also heavenly bodies and there are earthly bodies; but the glory of the heavenly bodies is one kind, and the glory of the earthly bodies is another.
The sun has one kind of glory, the moon another and the stars another; and star differs from star in glory. So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. (1 Corinthians 15:35-42)
Paul is explaining here the order of the natural world as documented at the beginning of the book of Genesis, where God created the natural world according to their kind.
And God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth.” And it was so.
God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that creeps on the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.(Genesis 1)
Paul then takes these truths and applies them to not just physical bodies, but also spiritual bodies. Earthly bodies, which are physical, are different from heavenly bodies, which are spiritual.
Paul writes that when our physical body is planted (sown) after it dies, it is raised as a spiritual body. (Note: I have often wondered about the difference between burying a dead physical body, or burning it through cremation. In the Bible the dead bodies of the people of God seem to always be buried in the ground, or “tombs”.)
The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body.
If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit.
The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual.
The first man was of the dust of the earth, the second man from heaven. As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the man from heaven, so also are those who are of heaven.
And just as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven. (1 Corinthians 15:42-49)
Natural bodies of the earth are not compatible with spiritual bodies such as exist in heaven.
The two are not compatible, and even Jesus makes this same point in the passage I quoted above in Matthew 22.
Jesus replied, “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.
At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.”
Those who today believe that spiritual beings like angels/demons can impregnate a woman in a physical body, contradict the clear teachings of Scripture. Many refer to the Book of Enoch to make their claims that there is some kind of hybrid human/demon race on earth that are half human and half demon.
However, there is a reason why the Hebrew scholars who compiled the Septuagint, the Greek translation of the original Hebrew texts that make up the Old Testament, did not include the so-called book of Enoch, because the teaching that demons can create sperm (seed) and impregnate a human woman is FALSE TEACHING.
There may be other parts of the book of Enoch that are true, as some parts were evidently quoted by some of the writers of the New Testament, but they never quoted anything about demons procreating offspring with human women.
Note that when Paul was in Athens and addressing the philosophers who lived there at that time, he quoted from some of their writings to make a point:
Paul then stood up in the meeting of the Areopagus and said: “Men of Athens! I see that in every way you are very religious. For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. Now what you worship as something unknown I am going to proclaim to you.
The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands.
And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else.
From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live.
God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.
For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
Therefore since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by man’s design and skill. (Acts 17:22-29)
Did Paul consider the entire writings of the poets he quoted as divinely inspired Scripture?
Not likely.
He did the same thing in this passage from Titus, when addressing the Zionists (“circumcision group”) of his day and one of their “prophets”.
For there are many rebellious people, mere talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision group.
They must be silenced, because they are ruining whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach—and that for the sake of dishonest gain.
Even one of their own prophets has said, “Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.”
This testimony is true. Therefore, rebuke them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith. (Titus 1:10-13)
Whoever this prophet was, his writings are not part of Scripture, even though Paul found one thing he wrote that he claimed was “true.”
Some people erroneously believe that Genesis chapter 6 deals with half breed demon/humans as they interpret the meaning of the word “Nephilim”. But they are reading their own interpretation into this word, as the text clearly states that they are “men”, and this term is only used twice in the Bible.
One of my favorite professors of Hebrew and the Old Testament when I was a student at Moody Bible Institute back in the 1980s, was Dr. John Walton (who does not teach at Moody anymore), who did not tow the line of Zionism.
Here is a quick video of him talking about the term “Nephilim”.
No seed and no new species can exist unless created by God, and these truths are very well documented in Paul’s writing here in 1 Corinthians 15.
Paul makes it clear here that God creates “seeds”, both physical and spiritual. Man cannot do this. Man can plant (sow) the seeds and take care of the life that springs forth from it, and today he can use technology to alter seeds, such as genetic manipulation, but he can NOT create seeds.
As I have previously written, even things like “genetic engineering” such as GMO fruits and vegetables, can only alter a plant within its kind. Genetic engineering technology has never taken a seed from one species, and modified it to evolve into a completely different species.
So GMO corn still produces corn. GMO soybeans still produce soybeans. You cannot plant a GMO potato, for example, and have it be harvested as a carrot or some other kind.
Flesh and Blood Cannot Inherit the Kingdom of God
When Paul finishes his argument about the spiritual, resurrected body, he concludes:
I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. (1 Corinthians 15:50)
This is where the concept of the “mark of the beast” and the “mark of God” come in. Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 15 which I quoted above:
The first man was of the dust of the earth, the second man from heaven. As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the man from heaven, so also are those who are of heaven.
And just as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven.
The earthly man was Adam; the man from heaven is Jesus Christ. The mark of man is represented by 666, and the mark of Jesus is the Holy Spirit.
Which mark do you carry in your physical body?
