Yesterday (2/13/25), we saw that once again, President Donald Trump will give preferential treatment to those who supported his Operation Warp Speed and COVID-19 injections, as his new head of the DOJ ordered prosecutors to dismiss charges against New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who was indicted last September on charges of bribery and fraud.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams is a person Health Impact News readers are probably familiar with, since I covered his COVID-19 “vaccine” mandates for New York City in 2022.

Eric Adams enforced a mandate for NYC in 2022 that required all municipal and private-sector workers to be fully vaccinated with COVID-19 injections to keep their jobs, which resulted in 14,000 New Yorkers losing their jobs because they refused the jab.

Adams did, however, provide exemptions from the COVID shots to a certain class of people living in New York City in 2022: the city’s professional ball players and those in the entertainment industry.

And he provided this exemption the day after the Supreme Court, led by Trump’s “conservative” judges, ruled 6-3 that the U.S. military had a right to mandate COVID-19 shots for Navy Seals.

Some excerpts from that story I published back in 2022:

Insanity is the New Norm in the U.S. as Professional Sports Players can be Exempt from COVID Vaccine Mandates but Navy Seals Cannot

On Thursday this past week, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who began his press conference by saying “we’re going to focus on the science” and then proceeded to do just the opposite, issued an executive order that exempted professional sports players and the entertainment industry from having to comply with COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

The New York Post reported:

Mayor Eric Adams exempted the city’s athletes and performers from the Big Apple’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate on Thursday following weeks of pressure after it kept Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving from playing in home games — and was expected to block some baseball players from taking the field next month.

Speaking at Citi Field and joined by executives of both the Mets and Yankees, Adams said Thursday that he has signed the order. The exemption was effective immediately.

“Being healthy is not just about being physically healthy, but being economically healthy,” he said.

Adams also prefaced his announcement by saying: “I’m going to make some tough choices. People are not going to agree with some of them. I must move this city forward.

“Generals lead from the front. I was not elected to be fearful, but to be fearless.”

The city’s sweeping vaccine mandates — which led to the firings of more than 1,400 city employees — will still apply to both municipal and private-sector workers.

Adams said he expected criticism but made the move “because the city has to function” and was heavily reliant on the tourism industry.

“We’re leading the entire country, for the most part, in unemployment,” he said. “We’re seeing unbelievable vacancies in our business district.”

Adams also said a provision in former Mayor Bill de Blasio’s private-sector mandate that exempted out-of-town athletes and performers was unfair to the Big Apple and its sports teams.

“This is about putting New York City-based based performers on a level playing field,” he said. “Hometown players had an unfair disadvantage.” (Full article.)

If you are a NYC sports fan, I am sure that you welcomed this news, as now you can attend games with your fellow Billionaire Wall Street executives who fund these teams, and watch your team put their best players on the field or court for a change, along with your fellow New York residents such as Albert Bourla, Jamine Dimon, Larry Fink, and many others who probably got tired of the COVID protocols preventing them from enjoying their entertainment and then handed Mayor Eric Adams a memo outlining his executive order.

The New York City professional sports franchises and entertainment industry are now considered essential services who do not have to comply with COVID mandates.

If, on the other hand, you are employed by the U.S. Government on a military salary, you are considered expendable, even if you are among the elite members of our nation’s Special Forces.

In yet another decision by our “Conservative” U.S. Supreme Court who continues to rule as if there is actually a killer virus that has been raging as a “pandemic” for going on 3 years now that the public has to be protected from, the Court ruled 6-3 against Navy Seals being entitled to a religious exemption for COVID-19 vaccine mandates, and their right to defend their country.

And while Mayor Eric Adams has never faced charges for destroying the lives of so many New Yorkers during his COVID vaccine mandates (nobody in the U.S. has), he was facing federal criminal charges of bribery and fraud from a September, 2024 federal indictment. (Source.)

So why did Trump’s new DOJ appointees order prosecutors in New York to drop the charges?

They reportedly pressured Manhattan prosecutors to drop charges because Mayor Adams, like many other politicians these days, agreed to support Trump’s immigration and border policies, and they thought he could do a better job of that if he was not facing federal criminal charges.

Mayor Adams denied that there was a ‘quid pro quo’ agreement in place.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) was seen laughing with President Trump’s “border czar” Tom Homan as he addressed “quid pro quo” allegations following the Monday dismissal of federal his corruption charges, calling the accusations “silly.”

Adams has denied striking a deal to help the government make good on the Trump administration’s promises to carry out mass deportations.

Still, he met with Homan on Thursday where he agreed to sign an executive order granting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents access to Rikers Island to identify violent criminals there. (Source.)

The Pro-Trump Pro-MAGA Jewish Attorney who Gave Up her Career to Oppose Trump’s Order

Danielle R. Sassoon

If the new MAGA DOJ leadership thought this was going to be a slam dunk case to get Mayor Adams off the hook, they were wrong.

Acting Assistant Attorney General Emil Bove, who was Trump’s attorney in his “hush money” trial where Trump was convicted on criminal charges last year for paying off one of his hookers in 2016, ordered Danielle Sassoon, the acting U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York who was just appointed by Trump, to drop all charges against NYC Mayor Eric Adams.

Sassoon balked, and chose to give up her career instead of perverting justice, and immediately resigned.

Her letter to Pam Bondi is all over the Internet today, and there is one copy here.

She wrote, in part:

Dear Attorney General Bondi:

On February 10, 2025, I received a memorandum from acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove, directing me to dismiss the indictment against Mayor Eric Adams without prejudice, subject to certain conditions, which would require leave of court.

I do not repeat here the evidence against Adams that proves beyond a reasonable doubt that he committed federal crimes; Mr. Bove rightly has never called into question that the case team conducted this investigation with integrity and that the charges against Adams are serious and supported by fact and law.

Mr. Bove’s memo, however, which directs me to dismiss an indictment returned by a duly constituted grand jury for reasons having nothing to do with the strength of the case, raises serious concerns that render the contemplated dismissal inconsistent with my ability and duty to prosecute federal crimes without fear or favor and to advance good-faith arguments before the courts.

When I took my oath of office three weeks ago, I vowed to well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I was about to enter.

In carrying out that responsibility, I am guided by, among other things, the Principles of Federal Prosecution set forth in the Justice Manual and your recent memoranda instructing attorneys for the Department of Justice to make only good-faith arguments and not to use the criminal enforcement authority of the United States to achieve political objectives or other improper aims.

I am also guided by the values that have defined my over ten years of public service. You and I have yet to meet, let alone discuss this case. But as you may know, I clerked for the Honorable J. Harvie Wilkinson III on the U.S. Court of Appeals forthe Fourth Circuit, and for Justice Antonin Scalia on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Both men instilled in me a sense of duty to contribute to the public good and uphold the rule of law, and a commitment to reasoned and thorough analysis. I have always considered it my obligation to pursue justice impartially, without favor to the wealthy or those who occupy important public office, or harsher treatment for the less powerful.

I therefore deem it necessary to the faithful discharge of my duties to raise the concerns expressed in this letter with you and to request an opportunity to meet to discuss them further.

I cannot fulfill my obligations, effectively lead my office in carrying out the Department’s priorities, or credibly represent the Government before the courts, if I seek to dismiss the Adams case on this record.

Here is Attorney Danielle Sassoon’s bio, which one can plainly see fits the profile of a typical MAGA Trump supporter in his administration.

Danielle Renee Sassoon was born on August 12, 1985 to Salomon (Sol) and Evelyn Sassoon in New York City, and has an older sister named Nina.

Her father was a partner at the law firm Morrison Cohen, and her mother works as a clinical and research psychologist and as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychology in Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College.

Her grandmother escaped Syria to avoid the violence and persecution directly prior to the state of Israel being created in 1948.

While attending the Ramaz School (’04), a modern Orthodox Jewish school on the Upper East Side of Manhattan where she was first in her class, Sassoon studied the Talmud, which she credits as preparation for future legal work.

After graduating from Harvard University magna cum laude in 2008 where she studied history and literature, she attended Yale Law School from which she graduated in 2011.

She then served as a law clerk for Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson III of the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

From July 2012 to August 2013, Sassoon clerked for Justice Antonin Scalia of the Supreme Court. She then worked as a litigation associate at the law firm Kirkland & Ellis, in its New York City office. (Source.)

The NY Post today is reporting that Sassoon was preparing to file new charges against Adams for destroying evidence and telling people to lie to the FBI, right before she resigned. (Source.)

Other career prosecutors in NYC have now also resigned, refusing to obey Trump’s orders, and the total number of attorneys who are resigning over this now stands at 7, at the time of this writing.

A federal prosecutor assigned to the corruption case against New York City Mayor Eric Adams resigned Friday in a blistering letter that accused top leaders at the Justice Department of looking for a “fool” to dismiss the criminal charges.

The attorney, Hagan Scotten, is the seventh person to resign over the calamitous effort to dismiss charges against Adams. Scotten was a line prosecutor on the case and had been placed on administrative leave Thursday for refusing to sign off on its dismissal.

In a letter to acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove, Scotten slammed what he called a “dismissal-with-leverage.”

“Any assistant U.S. attorney would know that our laws and traditions do not allow using the prosecutorial power to influence other citizens, much less elected officials, in this way,”

Scotten told Bove, who is President Donald Trump’s former personal attorney.

“If no lawyer within earshot of the President is willing to give him that advice, then I expect you will eventually find someone who is enough of a fool, or enough of a coward, to file your motion,”

Scotten added.

“But it was never going to be me.”

Scotten, a Harvard law graduate awarded two bronze stars as a troop commander in Iraq, is a seasoned prosecutor who has handled several corruption cases in New York.

At the moment, the Justice Department has not filed its motion to dismiss the case against Adams. (Full article.)

Mexican President Reveals Trump’s Immigration Lies

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.

President Trump recently threatened both Canada and Mexico with stiff 25% tariffs if they did not “help stop the flow of illegal fentanyl into the U.S.”

The tariffs never went into effect, because both Canada and Mexico allegedly promised to send 10,000 troops to the border to stop illegal drug trafficking.

But as I previously reported, there never has been a big problem of fentanyl coming across the border from Canada, as records show that only about 50 lbs. of fentanyl came across the border from Canada into the U.S. in all of 2024. See:

Trump Lies to the World as Crippling Illegal 25% Tariffs Forced on Canada and Mexico Through Emergency Orders Violating Trump’s Own Free Trade Agreement

Since then, it has been reported that Mexico already had 15,000 troops at the U.S. border since 2021, and that Canada already had 8,500 troops at their border with the U.S. (Source.)

Neither Canada’s Trudeau nor Mexico’s Claudia Sheinbaum took Trump’s threats too kindly, and were quick to fire back criticisms at him for this political stunt.

Here is a video clip with translation subtitles from a recent address by Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum, where she reveals some facts about the Mexican – U.S. border that I have been reporting for the past few years, including the fact that the U.S. Government is the one arming the cartels, and providing the market for fentanyl and other drugs flowing across the border.

It is encouraging to finally see some opposition to the corruption in Trump’s administration coming from these career prosecutors who value truth and the rule of the law over supporting anything and everything that Trump wants to do, and taking a stand against dropping charges over a liberal, democrat, corrupt mayor who destroyed so many lives in New York City due to his COVID vaccine mandates, is a good place to start.

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish. (Psalms 1:1-6)
