Based on media reports this week, it appears that the next stage of this war is about to be launched, as Russia has publicly warned the U.S. about the threat of nuclear confrontation, and China has announced that it is joining forces with Russia.

Despite all latest among Washington’s repeat warnings to Beijing against strategic or military cooperation with Moscow, China is now pledging to “join forces” with “like-minded” partner Russia to defend national interests. The statement came by the close of the first day of the director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee Wang Yi’s trip to Moscow.

“The People’s Republic of China is ready to join forces with Russia to decisively stand up for national interests and promote mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas,” Wang said Tuesday while meeting with Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev. On Wednesday he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in what appeared a warm and cooperative visit.

“During a virtual meeting at the end of last year our leaders [Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin] came up with a plan for further development of bilateral relations. We are ready to join forces with the Russian side, in accordance with the high-level agreements, to decisively stand up for national interests and virtues, and promote mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas,” the Chinese diplomat’s statement said.

He additionally said China will “together with all like-minded partners further promote the development of the international order in the direction of equitable development.”

“It’s necessary to unlock the potential of this mechanism, and it’s also necessary to develop new steps of strategic interaction in accordance with the changing situation in order to provide the necessary guarantees for national development,” Wang added. “I want to fully join your appreciation of the strategic cooperation between the two countries.”

The Kremlin praised Wang’s stance in response, with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov welcoming “China’s balanced position on the Ukraine issue.” He further declared that “ours and China’s vision is much the same” concerning the crisis.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said today that Chinese President Xi Jinping will be visiting Moscow soon.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday that Chinese President Xi Jinping will be visiting Moscow soon as China and Russia continue to draw closer together in the face of similar Western pressure.

Putin made the announcement while hosting China’s top diplomat, Wang Yi, in Moscow. “We await a visit of the President of the People’s Republic of China to Russia, we have agreed on this,” Putin said. “Everything is progressing, developing. We are reaching new frontiers.”

Wang said China and Russia have reached “new levels of cooperation” and expects trade between the two nations to reach $200 billion per year by 2024, up from $185 billion in 2022. He expressed favor for a multipolar world and said China and Russia together have withstood pressure from other countries.

“Together we support multipolarity and democratization in international relations,” Wang said. “This fully meets the course of time and history; it also meets the interests of the majority of countries.”

Wang is the highest-level Chinese official to visit Russia since the invasion of Ukraine. The trip comes amid US accusations that Beijing is “considering” providing Moscow with military assistance, a claim the Chinese Foreign Ministry rejected. (Full article.)

On Tuesday, President Putin addressed the Federal Assembly, which is what both chambers of the Russian parliament are called, and includes senior Russian officials and public figures.

He didn’t mince words as he addressed the widening of the Ukraine War.

Western elites “intend” to transform the conflict in Ukraine from a regional to a global one, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said. Moscow perceives this as an existential threat and will react accordingly, he said.

The goal of those in power in the US and other Western nations is to “end us once and for all,” the Russian leader stated during a keynote speech on Tuesday. They are using Ukraine as a “battering ram” against Russia and don’t care how many people will die as a result, he said.

“They intend to turn a local conflict into a phase of global confrontation. That is how we understand things and will react accordingly. Because the issue here is the existence of our state,” Putin said.

The Ukraine conflict was unleashed by the West when it supported an armed coup in Kiev in 2014, the Russian president noted. Western powers then poured resources into the new regime, even as it used the military against its own population and became increasingly nationalist and extreme.

Western elites “don’t care who they are betting on in their fight against us, their fight against Russia. They just want them to go to war,” Putin observed. The current Ukrainian government is “alien” to the people it governs and serves Western interests, he believes.

“Nobody among them counts the loss of human lives and tragedies, because trillions of dollars are at stake, an opportunity to keep robbing everyone under the cover of rhetoric of democracy and freedoms,” the Russian leader warned.

He said that ultimately Russia’s opponents must realize that the country cannot be defeated on the battlefield. That is why they target it in different ways, trying to undermine its unity via historical revisionism and attacks on Russian traditional values, Putin explained. (Source.)

When you get outside the U.S. corporate media propaganda machine, Putin’s statement that Russia “cannot be defeated on the battlefield” is echoed by many others.

It was revealed this week that when the conflict in Ukraine started last year, that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and his associates spent almost two months in a bunker, while Western Media apparently hid this fact making it appear that Ukraine was holding their own against Russian forces.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and his associates spent almost two months in a bunker after the outbreak of the conflict with Russia, instead of the planned two weeks, and underwent significant hardships.

The Ukrainian government “immediately” descended into a secure shelter under the president’s office on Bankovaya Street in central Kiev when Russia’s military operation was launched on February 24, 2022, the British newspaper reported on Saturday.

The secrecy around the bunker was so high that those who accompanied the head of state underground had to sign a special non-disclosure agreement. According to the document, they were banned from revealing any details about the shelter’s design, location, amenities, or even the food that they were given.

When Russian forces were located in the suburbs of Kiev, it was a period of trauma and terror for Zelensky’s ministers and aides, the paper said. “We don’t speak about that much any more,” Ukraine’s agrarian policy and food minister Nikolay Solsky replied when asked to recall the opening weeks of the fighting.

A government insider told The Times that staying in the bunker was a tough existence as “you don’t see the sun, you don’t know the time.”

Zelensky’s team experienced the conflict through their iPhones, according to the paper. They were always busy, with their sleep being “snatched and often disturbed,” it added.

Some Ukrainian officials were “growing weary of life in the underground bunker,” with one of them confessing that he once fled the shelter to eat at a restaurant, the paper wrote.

Due to fears that Kiev could fall to the Russian forces, the underground stay was prolonged for the country’s leadership, a government source told The Times.

According to the paper, Zelensky only emerged from the shelter from time to time to record video messages “to reassure the people that he had not fled.” (Source.)

Russia’s Foreign Ministry this week summoned the U.S. Foreign ambassador and issued “a formal demarche” with strict warnings about the growing conflict in Ukraine.

Russia issued “a formal demarche” to US ambassador to Moscow Lynne Tracy on Tuesday over Washington’s continued efforts to arm Ukraine, the Foreign Ministry said.

The move comes shortly after US President Joe Biden promised more military aid to Ukraine during his surprise visit to Kiev on Monday.

In a statement, the ministry said that it was protesting “the growing involvement of the United States in hostilities on the side of the Kiev regime.”

According to the ministry, the US is “pumping the Ukrainian military with arms and providing it with targeting information for strikes on Russian military and civilian infrastructure.” Such policies “clearly prove that assertions of the American side that the US is not a party to the conflict are inadequate and false,” it added.

Moscow reminded the US ambassador that both Western-supplied weapons and the personnel who are operating them, including US citizens, are “legitimate targets” for Russia’s military. (Source.)

President Putin also announced on Tuesday that Russia was halting the START Nuclear Treaty and putting their missiles on combat readiness.

In a much anticipated speech on Tuesday, President Vladimir Putin said he is suspending Russia’s participation in the New START nuclear treaty with the United States.

“President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday suspended Russian participation in the last remaining nuclear arms control treaty with the United States, warning Washington that Russia had put new ground-based strategic nuclear weapons on combat duty,” Reuters reports of the new declaration.

It comes over a year after Moscow signed onto a five year extension, and after in August the US accused Russia of violating the treaty in disallowing US on-site inspections under its stipulations. In response, Washington halted Russian inspectors’ ability to do the same on American soil. (Full article.)

Is the Collapse of the Monetary System the Real Objective here?

Financial and geopolitical cycle analyst Martin Armstrong believes that this WW III is needed to cover up sovereign debts that the U.S. can no longer pay.

Legendary financial and geopolitical cycle analyst Martin Armstrong said at the end of last year the U.S. is being set up for a “nightmare fall.”

Train derailments and political problems are spinning out of control, but the biggest threat is war.

Armstrong explains, “They want a war, but they also need it because the monetary system is collapsing. . . . You have had interest rates at negative since 2014.  So, suddenly interest rates are rising.   Any bond owned by any institution in Europe is a loser.  They have lost so much money, it’s incredible.  What happens?  Nobody is interested in long term debt – period. . . .

If you have interest rates rising, and rates are going to be going up because the Fed cannot stop this kind of inflation.  Then, you got war.

You have untold billions of dollars being shipped into Ukraine which is absurd.  This is what you have. . . .

You also have to look at what Janet Yellen said, and she was concerned with the tons of new debt coming out.  You are exceeding the balance sheets of the Primary Dealers.

To be a Primary dealer you have to be able to guarantee you will be able to buy X amount of debt.  If you can’t sell it, what happens?

The bank is stuck with the debt, and then, they go bust.

So, we have a real problem here.  They cannot continue to issue this kind of debt in perpetuity.  They have been borrowing money since WWII with no intention of paying anything off. . . .

The Fed is independent, and they don’t want the long term debt.  They have been moving towards the short end of the curve.  How do you continue to fund a government if there are no buyers for the debt?  This is on a global scale.”

So, war checks all the boxes?

Armstrong says, “Absolutely.  They get to default on all this debt which is the real objective.  That’s why (Klaus) Schwab is out there saying you’ll own nothing and be happy.  He’s trying to make it sound like they are doing this for you.  We are going to default on all debt and relive you of all your debt.

This is because they are going to wipe out everything.  Pension funds will be all gone.  That’s why they are coming out with guaranteed basic income to replace your pension.  They’ve got this all worked out.

That’s what the end goal is here because they cannot continue to function this way.  They cannot continue to borrow whatever they need with no intention of ever paying it back.” (Full article.)
